1. Task: Talk tactfully to a difficult patient.
 
2. Situation : You are a nurse in a hospital. A doctor wants to perform a dangerous but necessary operation on the patient. The patient doesn't want to agree. She is afraid and doesn't trust the doctor's skill. You the nurse, have some doubts about the doctor too, but you can't speak them openly.
 
3. Format : This dialogue should use polite, friendly but professional language. You should not use technical words which confuse the patient, but you must explain clearly what needs to be done.
 
4. Language : The language here uses medical description, persuasion and moral choice. The nurse should not evade the subject with vague language and false promises !
 
1. Logistics Students
 
1. Task: Talk tactfully to a difficult customer.
 
2. Example situation : You are a manager in a logistics company. Your customer wants to ship 50 tons of vegetables to Lanzhou urgently. He is very impatient. You know that snow is blocking the road and rail lines. The goverment has closed access, and you are not sure when transport will be able to move again. If you accept the contract, take the vegetables and they go bad, you will have to pay. On the other hand, you do not want to lose this good customer.
 
3. Format : This dialogue should use polite, friendly but professional language. You must explain clearly what the problems are without upsetting the customer. It will be best if you can offer the customer options (choices).
 
4. Language : The language here is practical and businesslike, but also uses persuasion.
