Numeracy - Numbers for listening recognition

Teaching notes:

a) Give orally 5 numbers per lesson

b) Take care to pronounce the numbers carefully

c) Write the pronunciations on the board; e.g. 105 = a hundred AND five; (American pronunciation sometimes omits AND).

d) Remind students that there is no special unit for 10,000 (Korean ? ; Chinese ?? ) in English

e) Remember |000|000|000|000|000|00 = trillions⁄billions⁄millions⁄thousands⁄hundreds⁄tens

note: explain what a "fraction", a "decimal" and a "dimension" are.

The symbol "x" is spoken as "by" for a dimension, and "times" for multiplication. In Korea, "won" (money) and "one" are often confused.
